In the evening, head out to the city once again to come across traditional dances that will leave you enthralled by the vivid culture of Sri Lanka.
After arriving in Sri Lanka travel to the energetic city of Colombo. Once in Colombo, you can discover the wonders of this contemporary city. Be enchanted by the magnificent skyscrapers that reach the skyline. Discover the Old Parliament Building and Independence Square among other examples of colonial-style architecture. Explore the fusion cuisine of Colombo and enjoy the nightlife of the city.
Visit the Dambana Vedda Village where you will get to know the people who live there. Walk through the jungle with the natives as your guide and learn of the histories behind their lives. Implore their wisdom and tales as you traverse the mountains and caves. Visit one of their homes as you return to the village and end the day with a traditional BBQ amidst the roaring campfire as the Vedda do their native dances.
Travel to Mahiyangana on the third day after leaving Kandy. See some of the wonders of Sri Lanka when you get to this town with a rich cultural heritage. Learn the history of this activity and participate in the clay-making process. Join a village household and learn the craft of ‘Pan’ Weaving and afterwards taste a delicious Rice and Curry Lunch. Discover some undiscovered gems like the Rathna Ella and Kaluwa Wetuna Ella by hiking up the mountain.
Arrive at the Gal Oya Vedda Village where you will be greeted by the village chief. After making acquaintances, travel through the jungles belonging to his ancestors, explore the ancient hunting grounds and listen to the songs of the natives in their tongue. Draw inspiration from the traditions and knowledge that have been handed down through the ages. Savour the stories told by the descendants of the hunter-gatherer people of the past.
On the dawn of day five, depart for Gal Oya, a picturesque destination. After having a picnic lunch on the grounds amid breathtaking surroundings, explore the National Park. Take a ride on a jeep safari to discover the wonders of this stunning place. Watch the elephants grazing close to watering holes and the crocodiles enjoying the sun.
Before heading to the final destination of this journey, make sure to explore Ella. First, visit Little Adam’s Peak where you can see stunning sights of the Ella Gap, a scenic range of mountains that stretch off into the distance. Pay a visit to the Nine Arches Bridge which is well known for the scenic views it offers. Finally, head to Weligama, a coastal city on the South side.
On the morning of day seven, head into the Gal Oya National Park where you will experience the most thrilling boat safari. You will ride through the Senanayake Samudraya where elephants can be seen crossing the lake to get to the other side. Head to Ella before nightfall to experience cooking at a typical local place and enjoy dinner.
Enjoy spending the day by the sea before heading to the airport to depart Sri Lanka.
